At the moment all my (very few) posts seem to be outfits. So I apologise.

I'm going through a bit of personal crap at the moment, so haven't been able to muster up the energy/enthusiasm to blog about anything more substantial. Plus I seem to be coming down with a hideous cold that's been brewing up for a week. But, troubles aside, it is important to look pretty.

Just went out for a couple of mojitos with my girlfriends the other night wearing this.

I used to live in pencil skirts, but then then kind of weren't in fashion so much and difficult to buy. However, I was milling around the Oxford Street Topshop on Friday in a really good mood and grabbed this one to try on. Whilst dancing around in the changing room to the amazing songs they were playing (seriously if you need to get in the mood for a night out - Topshop, Friday afternoon!), I decided to go for it, and here it is.

Unfortunately I have no hips. This skirt would look 100 times better on someone with curves, and while I attempted to give the illusion of a Kim Kardashian figure, you can still see the wrinkles on my hips where the skirt didn't fit properly! I also forgot how uncomfortable pencil skirts can be, but I'm glad to be back in one!

Oh and lastly a gratuitous nail picture. Excuse my finger fuzz(?!) and terrible cuticles!

Another day, another nail

Decided to have a little go at striping/fading my nail polish. More difficult than I first thought and I had to use leopard print to cover up the lines.

Overall in the end, not to shabby, I couldn't decide what colour combo to use so have two different colour nails! It looked kinda cool though, so I kept it on!

Birthday WAH!

As it was my birthday yesterday and I had booked a few days off from work I decided to get Wah'd @ Topshop.

I booked my appointment about a week ago as I heard (and saw) that it got very busy. So when I turned up yesterday at 2.30 I was surprised to see I was the only one there!

I opted from a leopard print and bow design which was not the most exciting of choices but I kinda of wanted to see how they did leopard print, so I could copy it at home! And seriously they have so many designs and colours that I think I would have been so hard pushed to actually make my mind up on anything else!

Here is the outcome.

So super neat, huh?

I love a nude leopard print and the gold/bronze colour inside the print was suggested by the girl doing my nails, and then I chose the coral colour to match my new shoes I had just bought (pics of them later) which I plan to wear for a night out on Saturday.

The manicure lasted about 1 hour and cost £28, which included cuticle work (which you pay an extra £5 for)

All in all a fab experience and one I'd definitely repeat!

Some things for something

I've been terribly sllacking on the blogging front. I'm just a bit behind on things and lately when I'm not at work I seem to be sleeping. It's my day off today and I'm still in my pyjamas at 6pm, it's not really out of choice but I'm desperate to get this stupid essay done and they are the warmest/comfiest things I own! Gah

Anyway I have been doing some stuff and rather than bore you with loads of words that I don't really have time to write I've just got a few pictures.

On our way to Thorpe Park. I am totally not cut out for theme parks anymore and spent the whole day feeling dreadful! Still was nice to do something different, and I at least I know not to go back for a long time!

Totes excitement and seeing the new Barry M pink crackle polish! Although I then went into Superdrug and found out they were doing 2 for £4.99 and they had all the new colours in, doh!

Back with the Bling

Sorry for the hiatus, I am here, just being a busy bee!

Last week I finally got my hands on Katy Perry for OPI Teenage Dream polish.

I love it! I figure the best way to wear it is over some white polish as it gives it a baby pink feel. Plus layering it over nail polish makes it less of a bitch to get off!

This is a really crappy picture and I think I took it a couple of days after applying so it's starting to look a little rough around the edges!

The ring finger is probably overkill with the glitter n'all, but I saw this WAH nail video and I couldn't resist trying the leopard print there way. It looks nothing like leopard print but I kind of like it!

I really need to get my hands on a Models Own/Wah nails nail art pen. Everytime I go into Urban Outfitters they've all been tested and leaked everywhere!

Anyone else got any other nail pen reccomendations? I'm still using a thin nail brush for my leopard print!

I originally wanted to do something colourful but I saw some similar ones on a Tumblr and thought they were a change from leopard print. Plus about 1,000 times easier!

Also the A/W Topshop Unique show had the models with similar nails!

Random white nail polish (still waiting for my China Glaze White on White to arrive!) and Nails Inc London Nights, I used a dotting tool for the dots, which if you haven't got one yet. Why the hell not? Seriously I only heard about these like a week ago and they have made my life so much easier (well in terms to painting my nails!) I got mine from eBay -  a sent of 5 was like £2. Bargain.

Does a leopard ever change it's spots?

Yes it does. Because I can only do blobs and squiggles.

I like to think I'm getting better at free hand leopard print, but a friend commented on how this looked like something out of the Flintstones.....

Comfy and warm (by my standards). Except these jeans and jumper love each other. I find that black jeans cling onto fluff like crazy and this jumper gives off said fluff like nobodies business. I wish they wouldn't involve me in there love affair!

The red hat was an attempt to 'pull' the whole outfit together as the shoes a 'off' red, it looks a bit stark in the photos though.

Oh and I tried to do marbled effect on my nails, needless to say it was not successful! I've got the basic idea now, so I'll try again soon. Actually quite a few people did comment on my nails though, probably as they didn't look up close (ha!)

Whilst I was out I went into MAC and tried there new Peacocky collection.

I'm not going to go into details about it because you've probably read about it on other blogs or seen it for yourself. I wasn't really interested in the shadows as I'm not massively into metallics, but I made a bee-line for the new 'Kissable lipcolour' - said to be the consistency of a lip gloss but the colour payoff of a lipstick. The colour selection is impressive but only Woo Me and Enchantee stood out, I tried them both but found the consistency slightly chalky.

I left them both on the shelf as I didn't really think they were that 'wow'. But I did test them out! I got around 3-4 hours of colour from Enchantee which isn't bad but the gloss went pretty quickly. I am a little upset I didn't get Woo Me, the colour is pretty lovely and it's already sold out online, but I was being ruthless. Boo hoo. 

Thank godness we stopped off a Cadbury's Cocoa House then. I drowned my sorrows in a banana milkshake and a flake.

I don't really understand Tumblrs - they are just a collection of pictures, right?! Anyway, I accidently came across this Tumblr whilst 'Googling' for nail art pictures. It is a collection of nail art pictures from other people (I am aware I sound utterly stupid here, but I really do not understand Tumblrs, and on that note, why is the word missing a vowel!?)

I went with pinks because I had the most shades, but blue is cuter.



I'm pretty proud of my attempt. The dots are no where near as uniform as the original but it'll do. And wahhhh how bad are my cuticles?!

Toe.....NOTD

My job does not allow me to wear nail polish. So any nail varnish I put on my nails is usually only on for 2 days max, unless I'm going away! Because of this I love a good pedicure! Usually I'm a fan of the Minx pedi that Nails Inc does. Actually my last one lasted almost a whole 2 months, which was amazing! But due to my boredom I've gave myself a pedi.

The thing I love about toenails is that you can be a bit slapdash and no one is going to notice. Unless of course you post pictures on your blog of your efforts.......oh.......

I was hoping for a bit more gold in this nail but I forgot I chucked my gold nail polish out a few weeks ago and so I used dazzledust!

Snow day!

It's snowed a good 10cm overnight here. Luckily I have a day off today, unfortunately I was planning on going shopping. I think my money spending day has been snowed off! I don't trust my driving at the best of times, let alone in a blizzard.

So here is a wintery NOTD with a mixture of two new polishes

Bottom coat is Mavala in 'Elle' - a solid grey with dark purple tones. Whilst the top coat is OPI 'Sparkle-icious' from the Burlesque range - a clear polish with big glitter particles in gold, blue and pink/purple.

Elle is a great wintery colour - not much to a say other than that. But Sparkle-licious is fabbbb! I just wish the glitter was a bit more densely packed, it's not really a colour you can wear alone. Looking forward to trying it over other colours though!
