Things I've learnt this week 8th - 15th March 2011

I have managed to be AWOL for the last few days, due to the fact I accidentally didn't get in till 6am Friday morning - got 3 hours sleep - worked a 10 hour shift, then was back at work Saturday for a 14 hour shift. I had Sunday off, which I spent with my boyfriend and then back working yesterday for a 14 and 1/2 hour shift! Needless to say I am only just catching up on all my blog reading at the moment!

Sorting out my finances.

I go on about money all the time, but it feels so refreshing to have sorted my money out! I've managed to pay off my overdraft. FINALLY!

I decided to finally get a credit card, just so I can get my credit rating up. I plan to use it for purchases through the month and then set up a direct debit to pay it off in full the day I get paid every month. It means that I won't be using it for big purchases, just in place of my normal account. Look ma' so sensible!

Whilst I was in the bank the lady offered my a better current account. No more student! Plus I get phone insurance, holiday insurance and break down cover! I've got rid of my £2000 overdraft and replaced it with a £300 (in case of emergencies!)

Sorry if that's not very exciting for you all, but it makes me very happy

So since the finances were sort out for all of 2 minutes. What did I do? Yep the only thing I know how, blow it! All on a brand spanking new Smart Car!!!!

It's a special limited pink edition for charity (they only made 100 of them) so I feel very privileged!!

I saw it only Sunday and couldn't stop thinking about it, so I've managed to purchase it today. It gets delivered on Friday!!! Typical impulse me!

But I have wanted a Smart car for ages because they are so small and easy to park. Plus free tax and congestion charge! I was supposed to be getting a used one, but they were offering a deal on finance and I feel in love with the pink one!!!! So I'll probably be broke for the next 3 years, but I'll look fabulous in my new car doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell how excited I am? I've been driving a 98' Fiesta for 4 years now, and although 'Lester' has done me proud, he gets very damp, smelly and needs jump starting allll the time. Considering I use my car everyday, I think it was high time for a little treat!

Dancing all night till your feet hurt!

Thursday night was a totally spontaneous night out, that saw me and my friends dancing our shoes off in a cheesy club.

Literally! A bare foot'd walk to get chicken burgers at 5am!

So fun though!

Things I've learnt this week 28th Feb - 6th March 2011

I managed to get V Festival tickets this year!

I only live about 20 minutes away from the Chelmsford site but I haven't been for the past few years due to holidays clashing/not being able to afford it!

As soon as I saw that Rihanna and Eminem were headling I knew I had to go. I managed to get tickets really easy (they sell them the day before for Essex residents) although I know loads of people had problems. I'm just going for the Sunday, as the Saturday didn't have such good acts, and I don't 'do' camping anyway!!!!

As it's in August I'm hoping for a lovely sunny day, and it gives me a good excuse to plan and buy a new outfit!

Talking of new outfits, I have a wedding to go to next month. It's rather short notice, it's a work friend and I was orginally invited to the evening part only, but my friend, who is really good friends with the bride had an invite and a plus one to the whole day. She has no significant other at the moment so she's invited me! I do love a good wedding, but it means that I now have to find a wedding appropriate outfit for April.


Who knows what the weather will be like in April?! Wahhh, plus I'm not too keen on spending loads, as it will probably be something I never wear again. Even though French Connection have some lovely stuff in at the moment!

...and with a wedding comes a hen do! We have to dress up '50's' style! Which means anouther outfit!

What with wedding presents and arranging transport there and back, weddings are very expensive, and not just for the bride and groom!

But still, I'm looking forward to a lovely day!

I had a facial this week. I aim to have one every 4-6 weeks but lately it hasn't been happening!

My skin gets so congested and I opt for a steam facial to unclogg my pores. I forget home much I love them, it sometimes feels a little extravagent getting one, but I swear they do my skin the world of good.

It's good to treat yourself every now and again right?

Plus my skin looks super 'glowy' at the moment!

One

I've found my dream bag. Well actually two. Oh Burberry. Why do this to me?

With both costing around £1000, it's not really my budget for a bag. In-fact I have no budget for a bag as I'm not supposed to be buying bags. But they are so gorgeous. Even the purse is fab it comes in that pale grey colour, but is still £300 - and you can guarantee that I'll get make-up over it within seconds being such a pale colour. Sigh.....well a girl can dream

And I've already tried the boyfriend approach. He just gave me the 'look' and said something along the lines of 'I'm not spending £1000 on a bag....' Pfft

Me and my three friends are going to wireless festival this year! Yay, Black Eyed Peas are headlining. They aren't my favourite group, but they have some damn good songs.

We went a couple of years ago and it was so fun. Proper summer festival - no camping - I don't do camping - so it was fabbb. It's in Hyde park in LDN and I would recommend it, especially for festival virgins!

My love grows and grows for Cadbury Bliss bars, possibly my 4th bar this week, but who's counting?

Seriously nom......if you haven't eaten one of these already then you must!

So last week I had £50 to last me for the rest of the month. Due to some technical difficulties (more on that later) I now have £4.07 to last me a week.

In a way it's quite exciting. What will I spend that £4.07 on? Shall I save it for one big purchase? Or shall I just buy 7 Cadbury Bliss bars? The mind boggles

In another way it massively sucks, hugmongusly sucks. I have over spent already this month so it means that the extra money I may have been able to spend on shopping next month now has to be saved. Bums.

I was not put on this earth to save.

Things I've learnt this week 6th - 14th Feb 2011

I'm going on holiday! It's been booked, excited, excited, EXCITED!

We booked this week. Not till September though, but still...!

Last year I was very lucky and managed to go to Dubai, Marbella, Ibiza and Florida.

Whilst it was fabulous it was very expensive and as I'm saving up (did I mention that before? Haha) I can only afford one holiday.

My boyfriends parents have a place in Marco Island, FL that we've been to for the past couple of years, so me and him are going back there. BUT we are flying to New York first for 3 nights, in New York fashion week. Eeeeeeek, so excited!

Shopping, shopping, shopping for 3 days, where I hope to be permanently drinking cocktails and then 10 days of this......

Ahhhh bliss.

Cannot. Wait.


Two

Being a student is not as fun as I remember.

I've recently started a course at work whereby I have officially become a student again.

Er, hello student discount!?

However, as super excited as I was to receive my student card, the thrill has now worn off. I have to write a 4000 word essay, plus complete a portfolio in two months. Whilst still working a full time job. Waaaaa.

Still I get to keep the student discount till October, probably makes it worth it.

I have £50 to last me two weeks until I get paid again. Tres tragic. Especially as I'm going to have to spend at least £20 of that on petrol.

Don't expect any haul posts anytime soon!

Valentines day...tacky or cute?

A bit of both I think. I cannot stand gushy cards or teddies, but I do like flowers.

And I do like getting flowers specially delivered to me.

So tacky, but so amazing. I thought I wore a lot of make-up, fake tan etc. but these girls are extreme! I love the fact that they go around like it so happily, it's pretty brave!

December to January paydays are always the longest gap, and I've bee struggling to not buy things. I already have a wish list for next month.....

Also it means that January is almost over. Yay! Bring on February.

Leopard print nails are so much easier than they look!

I did my toenails in leopard spots a while back using crackle polish but I googled how to do leopard print nails and found this blog which had a step-by-step guide.

Took my about 20minutes and I'm pretty happy with the results, the black probably should have been slightly thicker, but I'll know next time!

Oh my goodness I have found a new found love for Greek pastries, baklava.

I went to a Lebanese restaurant on Saturday - called Noura - gorgeous food. I was so stuffed at the end but they brought baklava over with the bill at the end. My boyfriend was raving about them, and I was like 'nahhh I've had them before, too sweet' but he persuaded me so I had a nibble. YUM. I stole them all and put them in a tissue in my handbag. Haha, what a tramp I am. But seriously I am obsessed now.

Anyone know of any good baklava shops in London?!

Turns out you can eat Lush's BubbleGum Lip Scrub! I was sneakily licking away at it thinking it might be slowing dissolving my insides. But I asked the girl behind the counter in Lush and she OK'd me for the sugarfest!

What's that? A tongue print? (sorry I'm gross)

Nothing feels better that a clean and tidy make-up draw.....but nothing is more tedious than cleaning out your make-up draw.

You can go out with the tags still in clothes without anyone noticing.

I did with twice this week, once accidentally and the other time on purpose. Remember me saying how I'd keep the tag in my new jacket for a little while longer here? Well I did, and I wore it out as a little tester! Suffice to say I will now be taking the tag out and keeping it, as I didn't see anyone else in it! The second time this week was in a top, luckily I noticed when I went in a changing room to try stuff on and I'm pretty sure the tag was hidden well away, so I got away with it!

I don't like Coke/diet Coke/diet Cherry Coke, I want to like Coke but I just can't. But I do like the nail varnishes that come with said fizzy drinks.
