Lip Service

I've have been thinking about having my lips 'done' for a while. I hadn't really done much research on it but I knew I wanted a fuller pout. A month or so ago my boyfriends mum gave me a leaflet on 'Juvederm', a kind of lip filler, and told me she knew of a lady who performed it. Me being me decided to book an appointment pretty much there and then for the next week. I did a little Google research after and decided it seemed pretty safe.

I won't go into the ins and outs of the how process because you can find a look better information if you Google it but I thought some people may be interested in the results.

I only had my top lip filled as I'm pretty happy with my bottom one already and I used 1 vial of Juvederm which I believe to be 0.8ml.

Surprisingly it didn't hurt, I always thought lips were so sensitive but this particular filler has local anaesthetic in, you feel a tiny prick as the needle goes in but then the whole area becomes numb.

Anyway, onto the results:

Before.

I didn't realise until the lady told me that my lips were uneven! Ha, it's pretty noticeable in this picture. She basically told me to even them out she'd put a tiny bit less in the bigger side, but did warn me that they might still look uneven.

Immediately afterwards

They looked pretty good straight away, but obviously they are slight swollen.

Day 2

She told me I was unlikely to bruise, but look at those badboys! Tradge! Luckily they were mostly in the inner part of my lips and I was working night shifts that week so didn't scare too many people with my fishy lips.

3 weeks afterwards

The swelling went down after a week, but I just didn't get a chance to picture them until now! This picture is not very good, but they are pretty even now.

The difference is not massive, and I don't think you'd look at me and be like, 'she's had her lips done' but I notice it and I'm really pleased. The results are supposed to last around nine months the first time and then yearly after that, and I think I'll continue to have them done!

Lastly, so you can see them in action....

If you are thinking about having your lips filled then I'd give you the following advice.

• Research your practitioner - I'm lucky I found a good one, but it could have gone horribly wrong!

• Make sure they use a filler with local anaesthetic in, I know there's loads of different types out there and they all have there negatives and positives, you can find a wealth on info by Googling it, but I reckon without the anaesthetic it would sting like a bitch, and I usually have quite a good pain tolerance!

• It takes at least a week until your lips look 'normal', I didn't realise that my lips would be numb for so long. It was a week before I actually eat properly!

• You may also develop a lisp, me and the letter 'p' were enemies for a while.

• Do them for yourself. Most of my friends and family, including my boyfriend thought I was an idiot for getting them done, but I don't care, I wanted them done, and I like them and to me that's all that matters! Now the swelling has gone down, everyone (except my Mum, who threatened to throw me out the house, haha) has agreed that they look good (or they are all lying?!)

Got me some yellow skinnies! YAY.

I have been after a pair of yellow jeans for a while, and I just happened to be in Miss Selfridges en route to Topshop (the Oxford Street stores interjoin, amaze) when I saw these bad boys. They caught my eye due to the fact they are such a lovely soft yellow, reminds me of something yummy!

They are very similar in fit/style to Topshops 'Baxters' but are slightly less high waisted, much softer and they fit like a dream. I am serious considering purchasing them in lilac too.

But how many candy coloured skinnies does a girl need?

Just Peachy

I want a nude blazer.

But if only it were that simple. I may have discussed my blazer problems before, this one I am wearing in the below pictures is the only blazer I can get to look good on me. So until Topshop release this blazer in the exact shade of nude and style I'm looking for I will have to continue to attempt to match my brown blazer with everything.

Not ideal. But life is full of adversity, huh?

Oh Man!

So it seemed that I took February off from blogging. Let the excuses commence...

Firstly, and hilariously, the phone company managed to 'fix' a fault by connected my land line to somebody else's land line, so I was without internet for about 2 weeks whilst they buggered around trying to sort it out, but we did had the novelty of having a new home phone number for a while, which was of course fun. Secondly, and most importantly, I've been on holiday.

Just got back from Oman (do you get the title now?) yesterday, and may I just say that it was gorgeous, and truly blissful to spend a week in the sun with my boyfriend doing little but reading trashy novels and eating.

So in the tradition of 'hipster' blogs I shall upload my pictures in Instagram form, not least because my photography skills leave a lot to be desired.

Sadly the lovely holiday has been pretty much wiped from my memory due to the fact that the flight back was horrible, I usually travel well but I managed to feel terrible the whole way home, and my boyfriend decided that he had developed a fear of flying. So I basically spent the whole 8 hours being clung on to for dear life by my poor pale, clammy handed boyfriend whilst I concentrated on not vomming everywhere.

Wishing S/S 2011

Budgeting is hard.

Especially when hints of the new seasons clothing & accessories are beginning to pop up.

Especially, especially when the following rules apply:

1. If you see something that you love/want in your size in the following stores Topshop, ASOS, River Island, Zara, you cannot wait for payday, you cannot wait and 'think' about it, you must buy now, or forever trawl eBay in vain hoping that someone might be selling said item for a reasonable price. 
2. By the time the British weather decides that it might like to be 'hot' for one day, all the stores will have there A/W stock in. 
3. Or we'll have a freak heat wave in April/May and you won't have bought anything to wear yet. 

It makes it 10 times harder when I'm off on holiday next month to somewhere hot, and actually have a reason to purchase bikinis and summer dresses, but don't have the funds. 

Still I've spent the day sorting out a few bits and bobs to sell on eBay. I'll link once I've put them up in case you want a nosey. I'm feeling that with the combined sales of these said bits, I might be able to afford one or two of the pieces below that I'm currently coveting. 

1. Rodial Skinny Beach Stick - I use the Glamtox sticks last year and they were super effective. These are said to give you a 'slim, toned, ready-to-tan body'. Reviews are pretty good, and they are on offer at the moment. I really, really want to try these before my holidays.

2. River Island Pink Print Bikini top. Super cute pattern, plus bandeau's flatter my non-chest. Probably would just make do with the top and match it with some plain black bottoms, I prefer mix and matching my bikinis. I am under the deluded impression it makes my torso looker, and thus slimmer. Ha

3. Topshop MOTO High Waisted Sorbet Jamie Jeans - MUST get a pair of sorbet colour skinnies this season. Mint or peach would be fab. I like Topshop jeans as they generally fit well, and on a good day I can squeeze myself into a size 25 waist, uncomfortable, but worth it. 

4. ASOS Cut Out One Piece - I'm fascinated by all the different cut-out swimsuits that are around at the moment. But as I have no boobs, they are pretty much a no go. I'm thinking a low v-style might not look too bad, plus I love black and white stripes and the style of the back on this is cute. 

5. Ray-Ban Emma Sunglasses - I have a couple of Ray-Ban Aviators but the thin wire and design of them is a nightmare at the pool, wet hair gets tangled in them like nobody's business. I was tempted to get a pair of Wayfarers last year, but I think these are a little bit different, and slightly cheaper!

6. ASOS Leath and Suede Satchel - I'd love a satchel style bag and as I don't think a Mulberry Alexa is going to materialise for me this year, this is a pretty lovely alternative. No?

7. River Island Light Green Peep Toes - And lastly, I don't think I can go on without these. I just adore them. What a pop of colour they'd add. And how super, duper amazing would they look with a tan. And how appropriate would they be on my holiday to Ibiza that I accidentally just booked? Le Sigh.

All these samples are useful, but not exactly exciting. Probably my least favourite month so far, but I am looking forward to trying them all out. Still, I cannot deny how excited I am to received my box through the door every month!

Hooty Hoo

So we accidentally bought a new dress. Not in the budget may I add. In my defence I never meant to keep it.

You see, I have a ASOS premier subscription (which is well worth getting) that provides free next day delivery. So I kind of use ASOS as my own personal catalogue. Order something, try it on, send it back (sorry Mr Delivery man). The process of trying of clothes just makes me happier, which is one of my New Years Resoutions, so it all makes sense (?)

Anyway I saw this dress and thought it was cute. At the same time I happened to get an invite for my friends birthday drinks. So the two married up and therefore I had to keep the dress.

2012

Hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and New Years. Mine was pretty quiet, but lovely all the same. I worked Christmas day from 1.30pm onwards so I spent the morning flitting around in order to see my boyfriend and my parents. My boyfriend surprised me with a holiday to Oman. We will be staying here, in February. So excited.

For New Years I spent the long weekend up in London at my boyfriends. We just went out for a meal on New Years eve and watched the fireworks from his flat. It was lovely to spend a bit of time with him.

Anyway. Onto a fresh year!

I’ve got a whole bunch of resolutions this year, so I thought I’d share them (and writing them down makes it harder to forget them too)

1. Save money. I read somewhere that it’s advised that you should have 3 months wages saved up for a rainy day. That sounds a lot, but it makes sense. I know I can save, but last year I saved up and then blew it all. Oops. I want to get a chunk to saving behind me, then I can start to save up for the more important things, like Chanel bags….

2. Move to London. I’ve always wanted to live in London. My boyfriend lives there, I love the buzz and there are a lot more job opportunities, plus I’m at the age where I’m desperate to move out and away from my parents security. I’m thinking this may be more of a late 2012/2013 thing, but I’d at least like to get the ball rolling this year.

3. Be nicer. I’m so negative and such a moany old cow most of the time. I know it’s a bit difficult to change who you are, but I think I’ve just got to be more positive.

4. Do one thing a day that makes me happy. Will help with number 3! Whether its spending 5 minutes reading a favourite magazine, helping an old lady with there shopping or eating a biscuit when I know I shouldn’t be. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts.

5. Be more frugal. Got to stop impulse buying! I need to work on being a bit more inventive with clothes, rather than wearing them the same old way. 

I’ve set myself a weekly budget and just purchased the ‘My Weekly Budget’ app on my phone. It’s pretty basic, but very useful and I’m under my budget this week. So it’s a good start!  

Sorry my New Years post is a bit late. Unfortunately, that’s just me!

Most of my time lately has been spent working, eating mince pies, going to the gym to work off the mince pies and online shopping. I'm pretty much done and dusted with my all Christmas shopping, just waiting for the last few bits to arrive in the post and debating whether or not I love my boyfriend enough to buy him another present.

Here is a very simple and boring outfit that I wore a few weeks ago for a friends birthday.

I wasn't really feeling the dress or my hair and it bothered my so much that I didn't end up having a good time and went home early! Lame

But I'll be honest I wouldn't have paid much more. I order it from the website because of the fact the colours matched my dress, but when it came I was very disappointed, it's basically just a fabric make up bag! Still, it did the trick and I can't gripe for that little money.

On another note please go and watch Tamara Ecclestone's new programme on Channel 5. Great watching. She comes across so badly in the first episode, but redeems herself slightly in the second, but mainly it's all about her freakin' Birkin collection. Jesus I'm jealous.

Scared fur real!

How difficult is it to take decent pictures now it gets dark at like 3pm?

Anyway Sunday was a horrible dark and cold day and I would have been quite content to stay in my pj's all day, but I dragged myself into the shower and put together this shoddy attempt at an outfit to go see Paranormal Activity 3. Which was awesome, but hideous at the same time. I love scary movies, but I also hate them. Me and my friend were huddled up together behind our coats the whole bloody film, but I'm like 'yeah, that was so good', even though I missed half of it!

The most important thing was that I managed to get my daily dose of Starbuck's now the Christmas lattes are out - grande soya gingerbread latte for me please! And I also had my first mince pie of the season. All very exciting.

Anyway, the main aim of this outfit was to be warm - as I don't yet own a decent winter coat, nor will I probably ever own a decent winter coat - layering is key, although I did also put on a black (p)leather jacket on before I ventured out.

Please don't hate when I say this fur stole is real. I got back from holiday a few weeks ago and found 3 of these in different colours in my room. Basically my mum had helped to clear out my Grandma's loft and they'd found these stoles, which she thought I would like. I would never, ever buy real fur but I guess because these must be at least 40 years old it seems a shame to just chuck them out. They are gorgeously soft and lovely colours. I'm slightly scared when I wear them out I'll get paint thrown over me or something. Morally it still feels a bit wrong, but it seems silly considering they are so old.

Please don't hate!

Feel Unique.com Beauty Box - November

Not many people seem to be subscribed to feelunique.com's monthly beauty box. Or if they are, they ain't blogging about it!

Maybe there is a reason for this and I'm just dumb, but I'm certainly enjoying my boxes!

It makes the beginning of the month a very exciting time for me as I love surprises! But I am a slight horder and am worried about how many sample size products I'll have laying around half finished in 6 months time!

Eek stuffed full!

Xen-Tan Deep Bronze Luxe. Sample Size 30mls. RRP £21.50 for 236ml

First up we have Xen - Tan deep bronze luxe. I'm sure we've all heard of Xen-Tan. I certainly have, and I'm a user of it. I currently use the Absolute Luxe in Ultra Dark (we Essex girls, only go for the darkest!). However, this is an instant tan that claims to last for a week, so it's slightly different. It's 30mls so I reckon just about enough for a whole body? I know Xen-Tan is good, and I can imagine a lot of people, like myself, have already tried it. So is it a new product for me to try? Well, no. Am I happy for a sample? Well, yes, as I already use it, it's pretty useful.

Schwarkopf Dust It. Full size 10g. RRP £9.55

Next is my beloved Schwarkopf Dust It, which I squealed with excitement when I saw. Basically a texturising powder that you 'dust' on your roots for a little bit of extra volume. You may have also already heard of it, I'm pretty sure it's the original powder type hair stuff, but correct me if I'm wrong! Personally I love this stuff and as it's a full size I'm pretty darn happy.

Bella Pierre Shimmer Powder. Full size 2.35g. RRP £12.99

This claims to be a 'multi-purpose shimmer powder' but personally I will not be using it anywhere other than my eyes, it's dark brown! I'm guessing you get different colours in different boxes. I've heard of Bella Pierre before, in fact my mum got duped into spending a large amount of money on their products from a pop up stall in our local shopping centre, they weren't great quality. I'm not that impressed because of that. However, this eye shadow is fine. Just a brown eyeshadow, pretty pigmented, but goes everywhere. I'm not sold, but I will probably get some use out of it!

Goldwell DualSenses. Ultra Volume 60sec gel-treatment. Sample size - 50mls. RRP £7.70 for 200ml

Anything that gives volume to my hair it good in my books. I've never heard of Goldwell before and was pretty sceptical if it would work. I used it the other night, I was just thinking 'nahhh, this will never work' but I was actually pretty damn surprised that it did seem to give me a good bit of root volume, without weighing it down at all. Probably the most difference I've gotten' from any volumizing product. It smells fresh, and is actually really good value. The only negative I have it that I'm not sure whether it's a conditioner or not? The instructions just say to 'leave on shampooed hair for 60 secs', but what about conditioning? Personally I used shampoo and conditioner before the product, and it seemed to work just fine. Will definitely be purchasing the full size.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural Life and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing Balm & Dual Action Professional Cleansing Cloth. Sample size - 30mls. RRP £34 for 100ml

Lastly it probably the item that I was most excited about. Again I've never heard of Emma Hardie, but I love moringa and I love the fact it it is a cleanser that comes with a cleansing cloth, as I'm a user of Liz Earle usually. The packaging it expensive looking and the fact that this little sample comes with such an amazing cleansing cloth is fab!! The cloth has a muslin side and a softer micro fibre side, plus a dinky little logo! I'm happy with the cloth alone! The cleanser is lovely smelling and almost 'gel-like' in texture, if a little on the greasy side. It got my make-up off well and my face looked lovely and smooth afterwards. I feel I need at least a week or two of usage to see any real results, but I'm happy to preserver. Plus I think that even if I don't like the cleanser, I'll be definitely getting some more of the cloths!

Oh, and I also got a little sample of Bvlgari - Mon Jasmin Noir perfume. It's not bad.

All in all a pretty successful box! What do you think?

Lil' Hips

At the moment all my (very few) posts seem to be outfits. So I apologise.

I'm going through a bit of personal crap at the moment, so haven't been able to muster up the energy/enthusiasm to blog about anything more substantial. Plus I seem to be coming down with a hideous cold that's been brewing up for a week. But, troubles aside, it is important to look pretty.

Just went out for a couple of mojitos with my girlfriends the other night wearing this.

I used to live in pencil skirts, but then then kind of weren't in fashion so much and difficult to buy. However, I was milling around the Oxford Street Topshop on Friday in a really good mood and grabbed this one to try on. Whilst dancing around in the changing room to the amazing songs they were playing (seriously if you need to get in the mood for a night out - Topshop, Friday afternoon!), I decided to go for it, and here it is.

Unfortunately I have no hips. This skirt would look 100 times better on someone with curves, and while I attempted to give the illusion of a Kim Kardashian figure, you can still see the wrinkles on my hips where the skirt didn't fit properly! I also forgot how uncomfortable pencil skirts can be, but I'm glad to be back in one!

Road Kill

I adore Halloween. I wish we would do it American style here! It's such a huge thing in across the pond. Last year my Sister and brother-in-law actually went to Heidi and Seal's Halloween party. SO JEALOUS!

I plotted my Halloween outfit for quite a while and was pretty pleased with my DIY results. I didn't actually have an awesome night though, we went to this dodgy party and I got way too drunk and was laying on my boyfriends parents bathroom floor at about 1.30am, Halloween outfit around my ankles, head over toilet bowl! I've had a pretty shit week and that combined with my lack of eating dinner Friday night made for a hideous hangover the next day. I think I remember on my last post saying something about the negative of drinking too much, so more fool me. Silly girl.

Blazin' Up

I've wanted a blazer for as long as I can remember but for some reason I just cannot pull them off. However, I had a bit of spare time whilst queueing for the new iPhone (sad I know) and popped into ol' Topshop for a browse. My intention was to look for a pair of shorts but I randomly came across this blazer, threw it on and ran to the till with it as fast as my little trotters could go.

Not sure why it looks better that all the rest I've tried on? The price? I mean £65? What the hell Topshop, it had better suit me for that price! Or maybe the size? It's a 6, which I wouldn't usually go for but they didn't have an 8 so i just really tried it on a whim. Boy am I glad though, me and my blazer are best friends now.

So obviously I broke it out that night.

Hmmm OD'ed on Topshop again.

Me and my friend hit up London, got terribly, terribly drunk, staggered to the train to get home, my friend ran off the train at some random station to vomit everywhere, couldn't get back on the train in time, so it left me riding off on the train alone and her on a random platform alone. Happily no-one got raped or murdered and we both live to tell the tale, albeit with huge hangovers.

The moral of the story kids, don't drink.
